How to Charge Your Nissan LEAF

With large battery ranges and charging options, the Nissan LEAF is a breeze to charge. When you have a fully charged LEAF, you can complete your daily commute and errands without having anxiety about charging.

The Nissan LEAF offers two batteries, allowing you to choose the one that best works with your daily driving habits. The LEAF can go up to a total of 150 miles when equipped with a 40kWh battery.1 With a 62 kWh battery, the LEAF has an impressive range of up to 226 miles.1

How To Charge Your Nissan LEAF - Pischke Motors Nissan in La Crosse WI

To charge your Nissan LEAF, park in your garage or a preferred parking spot and switch the vehicle's power to OFF. Next, open the charge port lid and cap to plug the charge connector into the port. The LEAF will give a quick beep to alert you that it's properly plugged in. After the battery is fully charged, the LEAF will automatically stop charging. You can also remove the charge connector at any point to stop the charging early.

If you're taking a longer commute and can't charge at your house, there are also public charging stations for you to utilize. Depending on your location, three charging options are offered. Use a Level 2 charging cord with a 240-volt outlet to charge your LEAF at home or at a public station. It will take eight hours to fully charge a 40 kWh battery and 11.5 hours to fully charge a 62 kWh battery.

DC Quick Charging with a 480-volt outlet is available at several stations throughout the US. With the 50 kWh DC Quick Charge, you can charge the 40 kWh battery to 80 percent in just 40 minutes and charge the 62 kWh battery to 80 percent in 60 minutes.2 The 62 kWh battery can also be charged in 45 minutes with the 100 kWh DC Quick Charge.2 The Level 1 charging cord can be used almost everywhere with electricity access. The 12-volt charging cable is the slowest of the three options, but it's great if you're in a bind.
